Day Camp: Uniquely Historical Fiction Coming June 13, 2026

Save the Date for HNSNA's Day Camp: Uniquely Historical Fiction on June 13, 2026

Mark your calendars for June 13th and get ready to learn and connect with other historical fiction authors during our one day virtual conference, “Day Camp: Uniquely Historical Fiction.”

The emphasis is on you and the unique self we bring to our stories as well as leaning into wellness and self-care. Spend the day in virtual community with the serious historical fiction creators of HNSNA. Attend write-ins, panels, keynotes, and community socials designed to spark new ideas and elevate your work, all from home on June 13.

We want to answer some questions before registration opens. Here’s what to know:

Do I have to be a writer to attend Day Camp: Uniquely Historical Fiction?

No. The HNSNA community is for readers, writers, agents, and publishers of historical fiction. Although, while anyone in this group is welcome to spend the day focused on historical fiction camaraderie, craft, and community, much of the agenda is focused on creating a sustainable author life.

Do I have to be a member of HNS?

You do not have to be an HNS member. But, if you are interested in joining, learn more about HNS memberships here.

What’s on the agenda?

We will announce the speakers and agenda when registration opens. Expect to see write-ins, a keynote address, panel sessions, craft- and genre-focused breakout rooms, and a meditation/happy hour. In the meantime, if you want to get an idea of our programming, you can check out our 2022 virtual conference, A Taste of HNSNA.

What time zone will the sessions take place in?

Since we have attendees from across North America, we want to provide equal access to programming as much as possible. Day Camp will start 11 am Eastern, and we will wrap up with a meditation and happy hour starting at 8:15 pm Eastern.

Will I need any special technology to attend?

Just your computer. All sessions will be held online, and we will use Zoom for breakout rooms.

Will the sessions be recorded?

Yes, the sessions will be recorded and will be available afterwards – except for the sessions that will take place in the breakout rooms.

What kind of interaction will there be with other participants?

In addition to Zoom breakout rooms and chat functionality during the event, we will also have a private Facebook Group open only to registered attendees so you can connect in advance of Day Camp and afterwards.

I’m interested in speaking. Who should I contact?

Because this is an abbreviated format to our full conference, the HNSNA team has reached out to speakers directly. We will open proposals to speak at HNS2027 in Pittsburgh, PA, in advance. Make sure you’re signed up for the HNSNA mailing list to be notified about speaking proposals!

I’m interested in sponsoring. Who should I contact?

If you are interested in being a Day Camp sponsor, please reach out to hnsnamarketing@gmail.com for information about available packages.

When can I register?

Registration opens on Thursday, April 2nd, and will close on Friday, June 12th.

How much will it cost?

The registration fee will be $95 and does include access to recordings.

Can I get a refund if I change my mind about attending?

Yes, we will offer partial refunds until Saturday, June 6.

Virtual conferences aren’t my jam. What are the details for the next in-person one?
