Due to COVID, our 2021 North American conference was all virtual.
We are overwhelmed by the resounding success of the first virtual HNSNA North American conference! Attendees enjoyed a wide array of quality panels, presentations, cozy chats, and workshops–all live sessions that featured plenty of real-time interaction.
And because networking and socializing with fellow historical fiction lovers is such a huge part of any HNSNA conference, we were thrilled by how attendees kept that spirit alive with conversation rooms, meet & greets, and other virtual social events. Attendees also participated in virtual pitch sessions with our stellar lineup of agents and editors, and polished their writing with an enthusiastic group of mentors in the virtual Blue Pencil Café sessions.
We partnered with EventMobi to provide a robust, all-inclusive platform for our virtual conference. Going virtual allowed us to schedule content throughout the day and evening across multiple days to ensure that attendees from time zones all over the world had the chance to participate. And a virtual conference paved the way for something so many of you have asked for in the past—recorded sessions that you can revisit at your leisure.

2023 Conference to be held in San Antonio, Texas
In 2023, the HNSNA conference will be an in-person event held in San Antonio in June 2023. Make sure you sign up for our occasional e-mails and announcements so you’ll be the first to know when we announce dates, keynote speakers, programs, and more!
San Antonio has been named the #1 conference city in the U.S. for the last four years in a row.
Forbes magazine notes: “The city has a distinct Hispanic culture, feels more like a European city than American” and “the famous River walk is loaded with hotels, restaurants, and businesses.”
The conference hotel is located downtown where hotel guests can easily explore a wide variety of attractions along the vibrant River Walk, survey the city from the Tower of the Americas, or soak in the history of the nearby Alamo. Other places of interest include the historic Pearl District, La Villita Historic Arts Village, and Missions National Historical Park.
