New Coordinator Positions for HNS2052

The Historical Novel Society North America is seeking individuals to fill two spots on our coordinator team!

Administrative Assistant

This person will assist the Conference Chair, and other board members as needed, in the months leading up to the conference (January-June 2025). The time commitment varies from month to month, but an average of 3-5 hours per week should be expected.

Duties include, but are not limited to, entering data, proofreading for quality control, revising previous years’ conference guides for 2025, and coordinating information and deadlines with the board and outside vendors.

To apply, please send an email to Jenny Q at jennyq@historicaleditorial.com introducing yourself, outlining your experience, and detailing any prior knowledge you have of HNS conferences. Deadline is October 15, 2024.

Social Media Coordinator

This person will work with the Marketing Chair to plan social media content for the HNSNA conference. Content should be shared several times per week until conference registration closes. The time commitment would average 2-3 hours a week from January to June 2025.

Duties include using Canva to create eye-catching and shareable posts to advertise conference information, posting blogs and newsletters, using Smarter Queue to batch post content on the HNSNA Facebook, Instagram, and X feeds, and monitoring the HNSNA Facebook, Instagram, and X feeds to respond to comments and gauge performance.

To apply, please send an email to Carol Cram at carolcram@gmail.com introducing yourself, outlining your experience, and detailing any prior knowledge you have of HNS conferences. Deadline is October 15, 2024.

Compensation

These are non-paid volunteer roles, but compensation is provided in the form of complimentary base early-bird conference registration (a $550 value) and a pre-conference celebratory dinner with the board. Our coordinators work closely with board members and get an inside view of conference planning, plus the opportunity to engage with conference attendees, vendors, and special guests. These positions are excellent for anyone who would like to be more involved in the conference and can serve as stepping stones to joining the 2027 board.
